Fall Splendor

As you all know I LOVE fall. It is without a doubt my favorite season. I only wish that it would last longer. This year, as is the case most years, we got a rain storm that practically destroyed all the beautiful fall foliage. The wind and the rain got together and ripped all those beautifully coloured leaves right off the trees and onto the ground. *sigh* Luckily I got to enjoy it while it lasted.
Here are some shots of them at the tail end of their beauty...

Looking across the hill...

The view from the garden...

For this shot, and the very first one, I was coming down the hill as the sun was about to set over the hill and this maple tree was just so beautiful and red. The way the sun hit it made it look as though it were on fire... it was phenomenal. I love that tree to begin with because it has such beautiful proportions, but all decked out in it's fall dress was a sight to behold.
In passing conversation someone said to me that "Fall in New England should be one of the Wonders of the World"... and I must say... I agree!
