Resolution 5K Run/Walk

A little late but better than never... December 31st I did a 5K Walk... It's something they do every year at one of the local parks to promote a healthy lifestyle for the coming year. It's goal is to have families participate and to start the year off right with fitness in mind. This year is my first year participating in it, and I certainly hope not my last. My cousin Jo Marie ran, her husband walked part of it, and Nate, Corey and I walked it as well. Corey and I finished in 45 minutes! Woo hoo!

Let me just set the scene if I may... December 31st... cold... snowing... wind blowing... well below freezing with the wind chill factor... a three plus mile walk/run... wind whipping through your clothing... snow and wind taring at your face... but you have to finish... you just have to... eyes tearing due to the wind... thank god your mom had safety glasses in the car or you're eyes would be frozen in your head... it's cold... for a few minutes, just a few, your down the hill and out of the wind... you start to sweat... so you put down your hood and take off your gloves... you're walking back up the hill... you're freezing... out come the gloves and the hood... you wish you wore more clothes... you're close to the finish line... only a little bit farther... Woo hoo! You're done... and everyone from this day forward will say you were insane for being out in that weather... but you and those who did it too will understand... we survived! ;)
